Our Leading Technology
Our relentless pursuit in setting industry standards for equipments of the
highest quality has earned many "first" for SMB Electric. Since 1983, our
complete range of low voltage switchgears are progressively type tested to
IEC439-1 standards.
In 1997, our innovatively designed 6000 Ampheres low voltage switchgear was successfully type tested and certified by ASTA of UK to IEC 439-1 and EN60439-1.
Spearheaded by a team of qualified engineers with more than 15 years industrial experience, our annual research and development budget of more than S$2 million reflects our strong commitment to remain at the forefront of the industry.

Operating under a Total Quality and Integrated Logistic Management (TQILM) program, ISO 9000, we set ourselves apart from other manufacturers by adopting a platform that automates the complete design process to end manufacturing.
Networked computer aided design (CAD) translates customers' requirements into switchgear layout and control circuit diagrams which are then automatically down-loaded to computer aided manufacturing (CAM) sections. These are in turn linked to state-of-the-art Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) punching, shearing and bending machines. Surface finishing is perfected through a conveyer lined temperature controlled Electrical Furnace for pre-treatment and high temperature power coating polymerisation.
Our Leading Facilities
SMB Electric leads the industry by having the largest and most modern factories
in the region. These include three factories in Singapore with a combined size
of 14,979 sq m and a 12,047 sq m plant in Johor, West Malaysia.
Unprecedented in the industry, SMB Electric employs most sophicticated machines to enhance our throughput and to handle highly complex and precision sheet metal operations. These include two units of LVD's top of range Omega 1500 30-ton CNC turret punches which handle material up to 8mm thick. These machines come complete with an integrated sheet processing system with part sorting and stacking from a right angle sheer cutting unit.
In addition, our highly advanced Trumpf CNC machine incorporates high speed turret punching and integrated laser cutting capability. Another first in the industry!
